Semiconductor Manufacturing

Moore’s Law is the perception that the number of transistors on a microchip doubles every two years, while the cost of computers is halved. Essentially, it states that we can expect cheaper more powerful chips that increase the speed and capability of our electronic devices without increasing the price.  In recent years, this historical trend has been challenged by the limitations of the current semiconductor manufacturing processes and materials.

Nano-C enables the continuation of Moore’s Law through its cutting-edge semiconductor materials EUV Photoresists and Spin-on-Carbon (S0C) Hard Masks. Its nanostructured carbon-based materials allow for smaller feature sizes, increasing the number of transistors on a microchip and the power of the chip, while reducing cost. These novel materials also enable ultra-fast, energy-efficient memory by increasing the computing capacity at a reduced cost.

That is the reason industry giants such as Intel, TSMC and Samsung are turning new material systems, to further conventional imaging and chip fabrication technology. Semiconductor manufactures realize that fullerene-based materials are super strong, exhibit high-etch resistance, and are low cost.  Semicondutctor materials made nanostructured carbon, ~1nm in size, enable complex features at 15 nm and with the goal to reach feature sizes below 7 nm.

Nano-C is the world’s leading supplier of fullerenes. Its materials have been used successfully for years in standard CMOS fabs around the globe to increase the density and complexity of features on a wafer.

Value of Nano-C’s materials:

  • Can be used in standard CMOS fabs
  • Enables, Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography (EUV) the next generation of lithography
  • Enables single patterning at finer resolutions, reducing or eliminating the need for costly and complex multi-patterning
  • Leads to faster processor speed, and up to 50% lower power consumption through FinFET/Trigate architecture
  • Can be produced at commercial scale for low-cost
