Facilities Manager

About the Company

Nano-C is a late-stage start-up working to commercialize carbon chemical technologies. We are seeking a Facilities Manager primarily responsible for working with the laboratory and plant employees to ensure that all equipment is functional, safe, and suited for the task or process at hand.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of process equipment condition for suitability
  • Maintenance, repair, and upgrading of the existing facility; rooftop work required
  • Interface with design/build team and subcontractors in the event of renovations and facility build-out
  • Coordinate with contractors and landlord when HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc. repairs or upgrades are needed
  • Troubleshoot and make minor repairs or maintenance to HVAC; repair basic process plumbing and address basic electrical needs
  • Repair and maintenance of lab and process equipment
  • Identifying and procurement of new equipment as needed by the process technicians or engineers
  • Primary liaison with outside machine shops and equipment vendors for both fabrication and repair work
  • Maintain equipment documentation
  • Assist in safety operations, including routine scheduled inspections of equipment including fire extinguishers, safety showers, etc.
  • Occasional chemical and gas handling
  • Mounting items, securing ladders, build and stock shelving, organize materials
  • Perform facility-based tasks for the EHS Coordinator
  • Pressure Vessel and Vacuum Pump inspections
  • Make sure all light bulbs are functioning, including ceiling lights, device indicator lights, etc.
  • Inspect hazardous material storage room to ensure compliance and safety
  • Respond to employees to address their facility needs in a friendly and efficient manner

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

The employee must be willing to handle dangerous chemicals and must undergo all required training with respect to regulations, safety, and personal protection equipment usage. Willing to work safely and obey all safety regulations a must. Moving and lifting of heavy equipment will be involved; intelligent operation and use of lift assistance equipment required.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • College degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite and Windows required
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Competency and experience with shop tools and environment
  • Experience with soldering, brazing, and plumbing a plus
  • Experience with light electrical work a plus
  • Desire and aptitude to work in a creative start-up environment
